Michelle McCarty, Co-founder, Executive Director

Michelle holds a master’s degree in School Psychology with 20 years of management and leadership success both in the private and public sector. As a Licensed School Psychologist, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Certified End of Life Doula, she has expansive knowledge and experience supporting and guiding individuals, families, and communities through the challenges often faced throughout the lifespan. She is cofounder of ReInventing Independence, a well-being and quality of life therapy practice, providing consulting, person-centered interventions, and professional CEUs at the state and national level. Michelle is also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and has completed the Executive Certification in Home Modification from the University of Southern California Gerontology Program and understands the value of safe, accessible and functional home and community environments for all individuals to thrive throughout the life course. In her free time, she enjoys spending time exploring the greater Austin and Hill Country area with her husband and three children.

Jordan Sondgeroth, Co-founder, Treasurer
APRN, ACNS-BC, MSN
Jordan is a board-certified Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist with a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. She has specialized in geriatrics since 2011 in a variety of settings including nursing facilities, ambulatory practice, assisted living facilities and in the home. She is dedicated to using a holistic approach to her practice in order to promote health and quality of life in the elderly population. She believes it is an honor to care for patients and their loved ones as they steer through the challenges of aging and chronic illness. Her aim is to support each patient with individualized care that is specific to their health objectives. In her spare time, Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, reading, attending local events and exploring the hill country.

Melissa Saffron, Co-founder, Secretary
MS, OTR/L, CAPS, ECHM, CEOLD
Melissa holds a master's degree in occupational therapy and is cofounder of ReInventing Independence, LLC a well-being and quality of life therapy practice. In addition, she is a community and professional leader experienced in advocating for change in healthcare service delivery, the utilization of community resources for our aging population, and providing professional CEUs at the state and national level. Trained as a CAPABLE Occupational Therapist through John Hopkins University, she provides OT consulting services for older adults wishing to remain in their homes as part of Central Texas Meals on Wheels Program. Melissa is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and has completed the Executive Certification in Home Modification from the University of Southern California Gerontology Program and focuses on providing comprehensive environmental modifications for aging in place with peace of mind. As a Certified End-of-Life Doula, she provides non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying person and their loved ones through education and guidance, as well as emotional, spiritual or practical care. Melissa enjoys being active outdoors exploring the city of Austin with her dogs, as well as spending time with her family and friends.
